Something Fishy: Lupita Nyong and Trevor Noah Dating?

Following recent break-up rumours with his long-term girlfriend, Cape Town-based physiotherapist Dani Gabriel, more than a month ago, comedian Trevor Noah’s social media post about an unexpected audience member, actress Lupita Nyong’o, did little to squash relationship rumours yesterday, with many suggesting that they make a “cute couple”.

The two have been the centre of speculation that they are an item after Noah posted a picture of him with the Oscar-winning actress in matching blue outfits.

“I was already having a great time performing in Johannesburg and then @LupitaNyongo dropped in and made my night,” reads the message, accompanied by the hashtags #WePlannedOurOutfits, #IveNeverTouchedAnOscar­Winner, #NowImHooked, #ImGoingToTouchAllTheOscarWinners, #ThatSoundedCreepy.

Responding to Noah’s Facebook posting, Elizabeth Mabaso wrote: “I love Lupita and Trevor, they are making Africa proud.” User Morné Assam wrote: “The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice.”

Noah is in the country for his sold-out, one-man show, Lost In Translation, which is being staged at Montecasino in Johannesburg until the end of the month, when Noah will return to New York to prepare for his Daily Show gig. Noah’s debut in the US will be on Comedy Central on September 28.
