Embattled Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal playfully
slapped a reporter during his post-match conference after their 0 – 1
home loss to Southampton.
The obviously disturbed manager who was not in the best of moods was asked by BBC Sport’s Simon Stone about the possibility of signing Ashley Cole, as Van Gaal immediately patted slaps on the journalist.
It would be recalled that injury has denied the Old Trafford team of five fullbacks – Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young and Darmian – with Cole linked as a potential stop gap until the end of the season.
Concluding it was a ‘stupid question’, the United boss clearly told the journalist Ashley Cole “didn’t play for a year”, before dashing him simple slaps on the face.
