Nigerian army said its troops have rescued 16 women abducted by Boko Haram elements in Adamawa state.
The women were abducted on the outskirts of the town on Wednesday when they went to fetch firewood and water.
Captain A.O Badare of the 28 Task Force Brigade in Mubi said the women, including two girls have been rescued.
Fadare that soldiers rescued the women while pursuing the insurgents.
Fadare, who did not give the number of the rescued women, however, said he was still trying to verify.
“I am still trying to verify from Madagali as you know, the operation is still on,” Fadare told the News Agency of Nigeria.
