See The 8 Nigerian Men On Trial For Drug Related Offense

The trial of eight Nigerian males and a Cambodian lady accused of dealing medicine crystal methamphetamine from a Mountain of Hearth and Miracles Ministries Church in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, ended on Tuesday,
August 9, with the lady claiming she had no concept that the smartphone packing containers she delivered in 2014 have been full of medicine.
Throughout the third and remaining day of questioning on the Phnom Penh Municipal Courtroom, Nigerian nationwide Favour Nnabuife Okorom, 36, and the Cambodian defendant, Mam Vinyong, 25, have been questioned over their involvement in a crystal methamphetamine ring that police say operated out of the Mountain of Hearth and Miracles Ministries Church in Meanchey district in 2014 and early 2015.
Ms. Vinyong admitted to delivering smartphone packing containers for defendant Tony Mmaduka Chukwuonye, however claimed she was unaware that there have been medicine inside. The pair turned shut after assembly on the church following the top of her earlier relationship, she stated, including that he had paid for powdered milk for her child.
“On the finish of October and early November, I delivered the products two or 3 times, and in December I delivered them yet one more time,” she stated, including that she was paid $one hundred per day for appearing as a courier.
“Mr. Tony simply advised me they contained useful objects and I assumed they could be model-new smartphones,” she stated.
Nevertheless, Roeung Pheap, a bureau chief on the Inside Ministry’s anti-drug division, refuted Ms. Vinyong’s declare of innocence.
“Earlier than we went to arrest her, our undercover officers reported that she was delivering the medicine to different sellers, and we all know Mr. Tony was the one who typically ordered her to do it,” he stated.
Just like the seven different Nigerian defendants who testified throughout two earlier days of hearings, Mr. Okorom denied every little thing. Requested about receiving medicine from Ms. Vinyong at a KFC restaurant at Phnom Penh’s Sovanna Purchasing Middle, he stated,

The Nigerian Behind $60 Million Online Fraud Network, Has Been Arrested – INTERPOL

Interpol, in a statement issued today, said: “The 40-year-old Nigerian national, known as ‘Mike’, is believed to be behind scams amounting to more than US$60m involving hundreds of victims worldwide. He was arrested in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

In one case, a target was conned into paying out US$15.4m. The network compromised email accounts of small to medium businesses around the world.

Mike ran a network of at least 40 people working from Nigeria, Malaysia and South Africa, which used malware and carried out the fraud, and he also had money laundering contacts in China, Europe and the US who provided bank account details for the illicit cash flow.

The main two types of scam run by the 40-year-old targeted businesses were payment diversion fraud – where a supplier’s email would be compromised and fake messages would then be sent to the buyer with instructions for payment to a bank account under the criminal’s control – and ‘CEO fraud’.

In CEO fraud, the email account of a high-level executive is compromised and a request for a wire transfer is sent to another employee who has been identified as responsible for handling these requests. The money is then paid into a designated bank account held by the criminal.

Mike’ first came onto the law enforcement radar through a report provided to INTERPOL by Trend Micro, one of its strategic partners at the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore. .

This, combined with actionable analysis and intelligence from Fortinet Fortiguard Labs in 2015, enabled specialists at the INTERPOL Digital Crime Centre, including experts from Cyber Defense Institute based at the IGCI, to locate the suspect in Nigeria, resulting in his arrest in June.

The 40-year-old, along with a 38-year-old also arrested by Nigerian authorities, faces charges including hacking, conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretences. Both are currently on administrative bail as the investigation continues.

Shocking! Fashola Forced Me Into Crime- Kidnapper

In January 2013, a four-year-old boy, Alonge Oluwa Tumishe, was abducted on his way to school at Ishaga area of Lagos State, by a five-man kidnap gang, who took him to Abeokuta, Ogun State and received a ransom of N5 million before he was released.

Relatives of the victim, who were said to be owners of a popular school within Ishaga, were thrown  into confusion following the incident and have been forced into reclusive lifestyle to prevent a repeat of the incident.

Meanwhile,  police authorities, yesterday, disclosed that its operatives at the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, SIRT,  trailed the suspects to their hideouts in Ishaga, Agege and Egbeda areas of Lagos State, and arrested three of them. They also recovered also recovered a locally made gun, while two other members of the gang are currently at large.

Urgent need for cash

The suspects who identified themselves as Paul Ibara, Ifeanyi Obi and Tunde Edu, confessed during an interview that poverty pushed them into crime. Two of the suspects, Edu and Obi also disclosed that Ibara, who usually identified himself as Mopol lured them into the gang. The 36-year-old Ibara, a native of Akwa-Ibom State told Crime Guard that he went into crime because he wanted to save his father, who he said was diagnosed with prostate cancer.”I live with my wife and children at Ishaga. I went into crime because my father was sick.

He had prostate cancer. I was in Maiduguri, when he fell sick and I took excuse and came back to see him. When I saw him, his condition was very bad and the doctors wanted to do a surgery on him. The hospital at Uyo demanded N450,000 but they could not do it and they referred us to a hospital in Ghana where they demanded N800,000.

“Since I just came back from Maiduguri, I had no money. Then I started thinking of how to raise money. I thought of a rich man in my area who had a very big school and planned on how to kidnap his son. “Tunde Edun, who is also known as Otunba, is a very popular person in our area, and used to visit my wife’s shop and there was a time he told me that he was broke and was looking for money to pay his children’s school fees. When I briefed him about my plans, he told me that he was interested but he wanted to be sure if the man had money. I also invited two of my friends, Victor and Yellow from Abia State, who I knew during political rallies.

“I asked Victor to come with two registered SIM cards which we would use to communicate with the victim’s relatives. I also contacted one of my friends, Ifeanyi Obi, who sells spare parts at Ladipo Market, and that he would provide the vehicle we would use for the operation. “Victor brought a gun, and Otunba also brought a gun he said belonged to his father. A day before we kidnapped the boy, we met in my wife’s shop and we concluded our plans. I told them I would be the one to monitor the boy’s movement, while they would abduct him. The next day, when the boy was on his way to school, I called and informed them and they kidnapped him at the entrance of our street. They took him to Abeokuta and they kept him in Tunde Edun’s father’s house.

Ransom

“I got the man’s number from a student that attends his school and I demanded N10 million. The man told me that he did not have such money and he paid us N5 million after four days and we picked the money along Abeokuta Road. “We asked the man to put on his rear lights and when we saw the vehicle, we asked him to drop the money by the side of the road. We also released the boy that night and we shared the money. We all got N1 million each and I sent N700,000 to my father and the surgery was conducted successfully. Last month, Ifeanyi called me and when I met him, he brought the police and I was arrested.”

My friend lured me into kidnapping’

Another suspect who is a native of Abeokuta and who is also married with two children, blamed Ibara for getting him involved in crime. According to him, “I am a club bouncer and I reside at Agege. I have a national diploma in Estate Management from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. It was Paul that invited me for the job. I had approached him in the past and told him that I wanted a job and I asked him to assist me. Two weeks later, he called me and said someone was owing him money and I should assist him arrest the person’s child and when the person pays him he would give me my percentage. He told me that we needed a gun for the operation and I told him that my father had a gun.

“I went to our home town and took my father’s gun. On the day of the operation, I was in the car with Ifeanyi and the two guys Paul invited, and we stopped the car that was taking the boy to school with my gun and kidnapped him. We then took him to my father’s house before the ransom was paid. I rented an apartment with my share of the percentage and I also paid my children school fees. “After that operation, I stopped seeing Paul and Ifeanyi. I was arrested at a fillings station where I was controlling crowd. I don’t know that what I did was kidnapping, I was only trying to assist a friend.”

‘Fashola forced me into crime’

But 32-year-old Ifeanyi Obi, who is a native of Abia State, said the former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, pushed him into crime. Obi stated that his shop at Ladipo Spare Parts Market was demolished by the Fashola government in 2012, and he became frustrated. He lamented that his frustration led him to Paul who eventually led him to kidnapping. “I am not married. I came to Lagos in 2008. I am not educated. I am from a very poor family. After serving my boss for seven years at Ladipo, my boss settled me with his shop and some money. From there, I started doing my own business.

“On December 28, 2012 I was at my village and I got news that former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola had broken our shops. When I returned to Lagos, I couldn’t find any of my goods. A few days later, one of my customers called me to bring a spare part for him at Abattoir, opposite an RRS base from where he took me to the shop of a Mopol man’s wife and he introduced him to me and we became friends. I told him that I wanted to sell my SUV and I needed money to start afresh and that I had lost all my money in my shop when it was demolished because I stocked my shop before travelling for Christmas. He told me that there was job that would pay me good money. He told me that the man was very rich and would easily pay. After the ransom was paid, I was given N700,000 as my share.”

Kill Me If You Catch Me For Robbery Again, Suspect Tells Police (See Weapons)

AN ex-inmate of Ilorin prison, Teslim Mohammed, who was recently arrested by the operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Oyo/Ogbomoso annex, while planning a robbery attack with his gang members, has blamed the devil for his return to crime.

This was just as he vowed that he would never return to crime if let off the hook this time, saying that police should not hesitate to kill him if he was caught again.
The suspect was among other gang members paraded by the Oyo State Police Command at its headquarters in Ibadan on April, 28.

Speaking on the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, disclosed that two of the gang members broke into the residence of one Adelakun Adekola, a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and stole his official single barrel gun issued to him by the local government for security purpose, with the aim of using it to commit crime.

He stated further that the hoodlums cut the gun to a size that would enable them conceal it during robbery operations but two of them, Ajibesin Solomon (22) and Adeniyi Tunde (32), were arrested while planning a robbery operation to be carried out in some parts of Ogbomoso, Oyo and Ilorin, Kwara State.

As a follow-up, the SARS operatives also arrested six other suspected gang members on April 26 at about 3a.m.. They include Aliu Wale Azeez a.k.a AZ (28), Teslim Mohammed (26), Olanrewaju Ajayi (23), Kehinde Abiodun (28), Adeleke Adeyemi (26), and Adamu Mohammed (23).
The gang was said to be notorious and were operating in Oyo and Ogbomoso axis of Oyo State and Ilorin, Kwara State.

Recovered from the suspects were three cut-to-size barrel guns, three locally-made pistols, 14 live cartridges, four jack knives, six cutlasses, one saw blade, assorted criminal charms, among other items.
Crime Reports interviewed some of the arrested suspects. Below are the excerpts of the interview:

Teslim Mohammed
I am from Erin-Ile in Kwara State but live at Sango, Ilorin. I was a drycleaner. It was Tunde who brought a gun to me that he wanted to sell it. I knew Tunde in Ilorin; he was a carpenter. Tunde knew me as a hard guy and we used to meet at hemp joint.
I called my friend, AZ, to cut it to size, after which we kept it beside a primary school in Ilorin. After that, we attempted to use it to rob at Gaa Akanbi area of Ilorin but we were unsuccessful. Tunde was later challenged and arrested, while we fled. One of us, Solomon, who returned to his residence at Gambari in Ogbomoso, was also challenged by his community members and he was arrested. Tunde brought police to arrest me.

I was once remanded in prison after we robbed some students in Ilorin. I spent close to a year in prison before I was granted bail. The case is still in court. I got AZ’s number from a prison’s inmate called Tosin. It was AZ who gave me the number of another gang member, Bayo.

I don’t understand myself; it was the devil’s work that made me do the job. If I am let off the hook, I will never venture into crime again. If I try to commit crime again, the police should kill me after catching me.

Aliu Wale Azeez (AZ)
Tosin and I were not really in the same gang; only that we come from the same place. I have also been to the prison. Tosin only wanted me to connect Teslim with one Anthony Femi; that was why he gave my number to Teslim when he was leaving prison. Femi brought a gun and joined it with the one Teslim had. I was asked to keep the guns and I did. That was the only involvement I had and it was the mistake I made.

Tunde Adeniyi (32)
I am into carpentry and furniture making. Solomon Ajibesin and I stole the gun of a man who lives in our community and works as a security guard. We wanted to use the gun to snatch a car in Ilorin. It was the owner of the gun who came to ask me of his gun. I believe he used juju to detect that I was the one who stole the gun from his house.

The Commissioner said the police were still investigating the involvement of the suspects in the alleged kidnapping of late Colonel Ismail Inusa, who was found dead last week along the same road.

"In two to three days all necessary information as regards to the suspects will be revealed as investigation is ongoing," he said

The commissioner further disclosed that other suspects were arrested by the Anti-Crime Patrol team in Kabala West for threatening some prominent personalities from their village and demanding for ransom.

While reassuring members of the public of police readiness to make Kaduna safe and habitable, the commissioner urged residents to assist the police with useful information to track down criminals in the state.
