Police operatives in Lagos have begun a manhunt for unidentified persons who sneaked into a church and stole a 4-year-old girl.
PM News reports that the incident happened early Wednesday, September
2, at Ejigbo, a bustling suburb of Lagos state, western Nigeria.
The victim Tope Ogundeyi was kidnapped from the Cherubim and Seraphim church located at Ilufunmi street, Ejigbo.
Olumide Ogundeyi, the baby’s father, said that he came to the church for deliverance prayers. After the prayers they slept inside the church auditorium as directed by the prophet.
Meanwhile, many local residents wandered how kidnappers had entered
the church compound without being noticed by the church members who
slept there.
Ogundey added that the doors and windows of the church auditorium were locked after their midnight prayers.
The aggrieved father said that when he woke up in the morning around 5:00 am, he did not see Tope where she was lying with two other children and did not find his three handsets. The man raised the alarm and together with other church members started searching for his daughter but did not find her anywhere.
According to the father, the disappearance of Tope has worsened the predicament of his family, which resides in Ogun state.
“I don’t know what to do now except believing in God that Tope will still be found,” he lamented.
Meanwhile, the matter has been reported to the Ejigbo police division, and the Oba of Ejigbo, Oba Moruf Ojoola have equally been informed about the kidnapping.
Police sources confirmed the accident, adding that they have launched the investigation into the matter.
